On June 12, 2025, the atmosphere at IBS College was very lively as students and staff came together to celebrate two major festivals – Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak – in one colorful and meaningful event.
From early morning, the college hall was beautifully decorated with twinkling lights, traditional motifs, and cultural elements representing both Malay and Dayak heritage. Festive songs echoed throughout the campus, adding to the joyful atmosphere. Students and lecturers looked elegant in traditional attire – some wore baju kurung, baju Cheongsam, while others donned traditional Iban and Bidayuh costumes.
The event began with a welcoming speech from the college principal, who emphasized the values of unity, mutual respect, and the beauty of Malaysia’s cultural diversity. Next, the performances began.
The show started with the lively poco-poco dance that brightened the mood. Students and lecturers danced together in neat formations, smiles and laughter filling the hall. After that, the audience was treated to a special performance of Ngajat Ngelingi Ranyai – a traditional Iban dance performed collectively around the ‘Ranyai’ tree as a symbol of gratitude and celebration. This performance received great attention and appreciation from all attendees.
This celebration not only strengthened relationships among the IBS College community but also became a symbol of harmony in cultural diversity. It left sweet memories for all who attended.
The event ended with a photo session and words of thanks. The 2025 Hari Raya and Gawai celebration at IBS College truly reflected the spirit of unity and togetherness to be proud of.
