Admission Requirement

  1. Credit for recognised learning (credit transfer)  

Did you know you can receive credit for prior learning?

You could receive credit if you have already studied units (subjects) listed in your desired program.

To assess your credit transfer – please provide Certified True Copy:-

  1. Unit outline: A description of units you have previously studied.
  2. Academic transcripts: Please provide full academic transcripts that contain your unit results as well as the marking or grading key.
  3. Official documents to confirm your completion of study (if applicable): ie: Award Certificate and Letter of confirming program completion.

 

International Student 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT GETTING YOUR INITIAL STUDENT PASS

  • All international students are required to apply for a Student Pass beforeentering Malaysia. Do not enter Malaysia on a Tourist visa and then attempt to change to a Student visa. You will have to leave the country again to do this and it will create lengthy immigration delays. If you’ve already applied for a Student visa and then attempt to enter the country on a Tourist visa you may be denied entry.
  • Students that wish to transfer to IBS College from another institution or who are graduating from another Malaysian institute must firstcurtail their current pass and obtain a ‘Letter of Release’ before applying for a new student pass through IBS College.
  • The Immigration Department of Malaysia is responsible for the granting and extension of entry visas. Immigration policies are also determined by the Department. Visa approvals are not automatic and there are stringent criteria to be met. In addition, different criteria exist for different nationalities.
  • Student Affairs officer will guide you step by step on how to apply an international student visa after you submitted application to IBS College.

1.Student Affairs Office

The Student Affairs Office is the focal point for IBS College’s international students. We offer an extensive range of support services such as: airport reception, medical checks, insurance and opening a bank account to set you on your way. In addition, throughout the course of your stay, the officer will assist you with visa renewal, insurance renewal & claim and dealing with your day to day needs.

Student Affairs Office is here for you from the moment you arrive in Miri to help you get settled. Please visit our office between 8:00am and 4pm, Monday through Friday. Please note the office is closed on weekends and public holiday.

 

2.Airport Reception

Airport Reception Service will be available for all new students arrival both international and Domestic students. Please send in your request for Airport Reception services at least 3 days before your departure to marketing@ibs.edu.my  

 

3.Student Visa application

International students are required to apply student visa before enter to Malaysia to pursue his studies, The process could be up to 3 months, Student Affairs officer will guide you step by step. Student is required to submit a copy of your passport. Here’s what we need:

Your passport data page (bio-data page which shows your face, name etc)

All pages with Visa information. We don’t need all the pages of your passport. If the page is empty, you do not need to submit it.
c. Recommended passport validity duration is 18 months.

 

4.Offer Letter

A copy of your offer letter from IBS College is required in order to apply for a student visa in Malaysia.  


 5.Health Declaration Form

You will be required to fill up and submit a copy of the health declaration form to apply for a student visa in Malaysia. Guidance will be given by the Student Affairs Officer of IBS College.

 

6. Academic records and transcripts

You need to provide copies of all academic records, certificates or transcripts of studies previously undertaken.  

 

7. Personal Bond

The Immigration Department requires all education institutions in Malaysia to sign a personal bond on behalf of the candidate, binding for a specified sum. To comply with this requirement, the institution will require you to lodge the specified amount for this purpose. This money will be returned to you upon completion or withdrawal of your study in the institution, on condition that there is no violation of any provision of the Immigration laws of Malaysia.

The bond amount varies from countries and the claiming of personal can be done if student had completed or being terminated from studies and intend to leave Malaysia.

8.Health Insurance for International Students

As an international student at IBS College and bonded by Malaysian Immigration Laws & Regulations, you are covered by Insurance Plan, currently operated by AXA AFFIN General Insurance Berhad.

Coverage Insurance Plan is offered at a very competitive annual premium of approximately RM150.00 per student. Annual premium is applicable for all actively enrolled international students.

9.Student Visa Renewal and Penalties

In the effort to reduce complications relating to your visa renewal, all international students are required to submit your individual passports with the completed forms and full payment made to the Student Affairs Office at a minimum of three (3) months prior to the expiration date stated on your existing visa.

  • 1 copy of parents / guardian photocopied IC
  • 1 copy of School leaving certificate
  • 1 copy of School testimonial
  • 2 certified true copies of academic certificates/transcripts or the relevant qualification
  • 1 copies of co-curriculum certificate (if available)
  • Non-refundable Application Fee of RM200.00

  • Visa Application Fee of RM1500.00 (subject to change)
  • 12 Copies of colored passport-sized photographs
  • 2 copies of identity card (IC / ID) copy
  • 3 copies of passport copy (exclude blank pages)
  • 2 certified true copies of academic certificates/transcripts or the relevant qualification
